Is it the Opportunity or You?
The other day I had a comment on a blog post that made me think for a minute or two. Here it is... "Unfortunately the MLM Dream is just that .. a dream. Everyone I have ever known (and there has been a number of them one as recently as two months ago) who has tried MLM has come away empty handed." It made me think because of something a mentor of mine told me years ago. Joe owned and operated a carpet cleaning business, was frustrated, broke, and ready to quit. He had asked a very successful real estate investor if real estate was a good business to get into. The Investor's response surprised him. You see Joe was asked if people in his industry made money. He then asked Joe is some people were getting rich. Now the answer to both questions was yes. At that point, Joe was told that it wasn't the carpet cleaning business that failed, it was Joe. Now needless to say, that kind of admonishment can be a little difficult to accept. But let's examine it a little closer shall we. Let's look at the network marketing industry. Are people making money in Network Marketing or MLM? Yes, they are. Are people getting rich? Yes, they are. How about the company you have associated with. Are people making money and becoming wealthy? I am willing to bet they are. You see, if no one made money in MLM then you can blame the industry for your failure. If people made money in Network Marketing but no one made money with your company, then you can blame your company for your failure. But if people are making money in your company and you are not, then the only person you can blame is yourself. Take personal responsibility for yourself. We all want to be successful in our businesses. Yet to do so, we have to be willing to take full responsibility for our success or failure. You and you alone that can determine if you will be successful. Not the industry, your company, nor your upline and downline. The only thing in your control is you. Therefore it is up to you to... 1. Make that one extra call. 2. Set that extra appointment. 3. Make that followup. 4. Contact your upline for help. 5. Seek out and develop the needed skills. 6. Get past your fears and prospect. 7. Show the plan. 8. Enroll new associates/distributors/customers. The difference between successful networkers and failures is that successful networkers do what unsuccessful networkers won't, can't or are too afraid to do. So make a commitment to yourself and your future that you will do the following... I will do what needs to be done. I can do what needs to be done. I have the courage to do what needs to be done in order to be successful. Then do it. Just do it.
